How Can You Get Involved?

Volunteering

Our long term goal has always been to offer an extra night.

Previously the youth club was open 3 nights a week. As our leaders are volunteers with full time jobs, It is currently not possible to offer further nights.

To make it possible to do so, we would need more volunteers. Our ideal situation would be to have a team of volunteers on a Thursday night and another team for a different night.

Therefore, we are always on the look out for new volunteers.

You need no previous experience, qualification, or skills. We welcome anyone to come along and experience the youth club, and to see if it is right for them. (DBS check is required)

Finance

We've mentioned before that all our volunteers are just that, volunteers. None of the team are paid members of staff. However, the club does have running costs. From food, tuck, sports equipment, resources etc..

We are no longer funded by SCC, and run on donations, grants and fundraising. Currently we have funds to run the youth club, but a time will come when we might not.

We have recently been chosen by the Co-Op as one of the projects to be backed! This means, if you have a Co-Op membership card, you can support the youth club! https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/14066

To do so, you need to log in to your Co-Op account and choose to back the youth club. Co-Op gives 1% of what you spend towards your chosen project. All proceeds from carrier bags also go to your chosen project.

Im the first term alone we have made £850 with three more terms remaining.

We have so many exciting plans for the year ahead, but finances are the stumbling block currently. With your support via your Co-Op membership, we can make these plans happen.

We have also been chosen by Waitrose Esher to be one the charities they help via their green token scheme. Each time you shop there, ask for a green token to pop into the youth club box!

One of the easiest ways to raise funds for our Youth Club is online shopping. It does not cost you anything, but Claygate Village Youth Club Association benefits. To that end we are signed up as a registered beneficiary with easyfundraising.org.uk.  Simply go to their site and register yourself. Then when shopping online with any major retailer such as Argos, John Lewis, Sainsburys, Currys, M&S, Majestic, Amazon etc. just make sure you go to their site via easyfundrasing.org.uk and all is sorted. CVYCA on average gets 2% of the value of your shopping whilst you have not paid a penny extra.

Skills

At CYC we look to ensure that our young people are set up for life after education. We look to equip them with skills they may not have had access to before.

We look to host workshops, classes and much more.

Previously we have had drama workshops, pamper evenings, arts and crafts and in the summer we are looking at football coaching.

If you have a particular business, hobby or skills you would like to teach, please do not hesitate in contacting us.
